Longer trip to suit Tiger Trek
The selection performed with a degree of promise at Leopardstown last Christmas, eighth behind the smart Western Boy, and then wasn’t seen again until reappearing at Kilbeggan two weeks ago.
That wasn’t the best of races, Tiger Trek was relatively easy to back and beaten into second by a 66-1 newcomer, Denis Hogan’s Mysticaltou.
He did, though, stay on quite nicely in the closing stages, is bound to come on for the much-needed run and stepping up half a mile in trip can only work in his favour.
Ger Lyons’ Unrequited, the unluckiest loser of the season, is fancied to set the record straight in the Listowel Printing Works Maiden.
He had been proving a little disappointing, until going to Wexford last month to contest a competitive handicap.
Fitted with cheek-pieces for the first time, Unrequited put up a decent effort to slam in-form, and subsequent winner, Coolfighter, by two lengths.
His unfortunate rider, Colin Keane, however, failed to weigh in and disqualification was automatic.
The cheek-pieces are utilised again today and Unrequited gets the vote to come out on top.
Only six are set to go to post for the Southampton Goodwill Chase, but it is still decidedly tricky.
Perhaps, Jacksonslady will provide the answer. Philip Dempsey’s mare never got into any sort of rhythm in Wednesday’s Kerry National, but still managed to finish seventh behind Your Busy.
This represents an altogether easier assignment and the two and a half miles, as against the three miles of the National, should be more suitable.
