Warrior impossible to oppose
A three-timer bumper winner for Shark Hanlon, the seven-year-old had his first outing for Mullins at Tramore on Saturday.
Prior to that, he hadn’t been seen for just over a year, not since finishing second over flights at Downpatrick.
Clondaw Warrior only got into the mile and six Tramore contest as first reserve, but was a big order in the market and went of an 8-11 chance.
Even those skimpy odds were a robbery, as he strolled through the race to score with any amount in hand by eight lengths.
It is no surprise Mullins’ recruit makes a quick reappearance, under a mandatory 5lbs penalty.
He has 13 rivals now, but will surely go up by a lot more than 5lbs when the handicapper reveals his hand today and is impossible to oppose.
The nap vote falls on Dessie Hughes’ Seefood in the Athleague Hurdle. This versatile sort won a moderate beginners chase by 11 lengths at Kilbeggan last time and, although a dual winner over flights, is unpenalised
Ger Lyons’ Belle Et Bete gets the vote in the seven furlongs Roscommon Auction Race.
She was impressive when scoring by eight and a half lengths at Down Royal last month and, hopefully, can follow up.
