Timiyan to open account
The Dermot Weld trained Ghostzapper gelding has shown promise on both starts, building on his debut fifth to Fiscal Focus at Leopardstown when finishing less than three lengths fourth behind Boqa in a nine-furlong maiden in Tipperary last month.
That form has been boosted by the winner’s third placing in the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh and the maiden success of runner-up Maskoon at Navan.
Dropping back in distance from nine to seven furlongs and, favourably drawn, Timiyan has solid claims, despite the presence of Aidan O’Brien’s 86-rated Beyond Brilliance.
The David Wachman trained Circling appeals in the concluding fillies maiden, despite reservations about her withdrawal from a couple of recent engagements due to softening ground conditions.
This Galileo filly raced twice as a juvenile, when fifth in Curragh maidens won by smart fillies Avenue Gabriel and Dazzling respectively.
She was a beaten odds-on favourite on her three-year-old debut, at Dundalk back in February when, having travelled well, she was readily brushed aside by impressive debutante American Girl.
Allocated a mark of 92, Circling should be more than capable of winning a maiden of this type.
