Tango Time set to build on debut promise

The once-raced Tango Time can land the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden at Cork this afternoon.

A daughter of Danheill Dancer, the selection made a bright start at the Curragh last month and, with David Wachman’s horses in good form, can be expected to build on that.

Tango Time travelled beautifully through the six furlongs contest, but didn’t pick up as well as the impressive winner, Iveagh Gardens, and was eventually beaten four and a half lengths into second. The surface was very testing then, even for a horse bred to go on it, and it was no surprise Wachman’s filly tired in the closing stages. She will know a lot more as to what is required on this occasion.

John Oxx’s relatively experienced Kerkeni, with three outings under his belt, can take the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden. He was last seen at Gowran Park in September when beaten a short head by Jim Bolger’s first-timer, Mandatario.

The form is nothing to be getting excited about, but still appears to give Kerkeni the edge in this league!

Bolger’s Alertness is the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden for juveniles. She performed reasonably well when fourth to Kevin Prendergast’s Beach Belle at the Curragh and the form has been working out quite nicely.

Only four go to post for the Powers’ Gold Cup at Fairyhouse tomorrow, but this is particularly tricky.

The hopeful nod falls on Michael Winters’ Rebel Fitz, who stripped in rude good health on his reappearance over flights at Cork last month.

The heavy conditions should not have played to his strengths, but Rebel Fitz made light of them to slam Tarla (rec.7lbs) by ten lengths.

Easter Hunt, third at Cork 24 days ago, has been crying out for a decent surface and gets the nod in the 25-runner Irish Field Maiden Hurdle.

At Cork tomorrow, Dessie Hughes’ Sub Lieutenant is the nap in the Bumper, having chased home the smart Paul Nolan-trained Fine Article at Gowran Park on his latest appearance.

The form was given a minor boost when the fourth, Bentelimar, subsequently bolted in at Tramore.

Toner D’Oudairies, a creditable fourth to Boston Bob in a Grade 1 at Aintree, is fancied to show his appreciation of a drop in class in the Featured Grade 3 Imperial Call Chase.
