Philip Fenton has been forced to call time on the career of Dunguib after he pulled up lame in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham on Wednesday.

Such a brilliant winner of the Weatherbys Champion Bumper in 2009, he returned to the Festival 12 months later as the 4-5 favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle but could only finish third behind Menorah.

After that his career was marred by injury and following just two races in three years he made his comeback this season, winning the Grade Two Boyne Hurdle at Navan.
