All about tactics as Ruby gets it just right on Hurricane

Even by Ruby Walsh’s seriously high standards, this could only be described as an extraordinary ride.

Yes, Walsh got his tactics spot on, as he produced Hurricane Fly with impeccable timing to land the 18th Grade 1 success of the horse’s career in the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown yesterday.

This was a contest that was simply all about tactics. Hurricane Fly’s stable companion, Thousand Stars, took them along at a sedate pace and that was never going to suit the heavily backed Jezki.
