World aiming to rule in Chester Vase
The half-brother to multiple Group One winner Duke Of Marmalade earned quotes of around 20-1 for the Investec Derby after making a successful debut in a mile-and-a-quarter maiden at the Curragh a month ago.
He faces just four rivals including Feel Like Dancing, who made his racecourse bow less than three weeks ago
That came at Newbury where the John Gosden-trained son of Galileo got up on the line to pip Boite by a nose over a mile and three furlongs.
Richard Fahey lifted the Vase 12 months ago with Mickdaam and the Malton handler saddles Gabrial’s Kaka this time round, owned by Dr Marwan Koukash.
The gelding won both his starts last term and was not disgraced when third to Mirsaale in the Investec Derby Trial at Epsom on his reappearance.
Mister Impatience was sent off favourite at Epsom but was only fourth and his trainer Mark Johnston is hoping the Hernando colt can prove that running to be wrong.
“We hope he didn’t run to form at Epsom. It’s hard to say if that was his form or not, but my impression was that he didn’t come down the hill well,” said Johnston.
“Chester is not an easy track either but I think he will handle that a lot better. I will be hoping for some rain.”
Andrew Balding believes Havana Beat can build on his fourth behind Windhoek in the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy at Newmarket.
