Thynetocatcher one to watch

Wexford was found to be raceable yesterday afternoon, but today’s meeting is subject to a further inspection at 8am this morning.

Thynetocatcher one to watch

If the green light is finally given then Roger McGrath’s Thynetocatcher is fancied to deliver in the Saltees Island Mares’ Novice Hurdle.

She is dropped in class, having emerged with credit from a Grade 3 at Down Royal earlier in the month.

The selection finished a length second behind Top Madam and had a number of useful sorts behind.

The ground was on the good side then, but Thynetocatcher won a decent bumper in testing conditions at Navan and that augurs well for her prospects now.

Reine Angevine, representing Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh, is the obvious worry. The daughter of Poliglote bolted away with a maiden at Gowran Park, from subsequent winner, Dumbarton, but this ground will be altogether more demanding and it remains to be seen how she will cope.

Lord Of Lords, who missed an engagement at Clonmel last Thursday, is the interesting one in the Slaney Maiden Hurdle.

He was the medium of a gamble, and in the care of Helena Keaveney, when taking a bumper by 23 lengths at Navan in March.

The five-year-old has to get the vote, carrying the colours of Thomas Barr for the first time and now trained by Edward O’Grady.

Mark Roper’s Courtly Conduct may provide the answer to the two-mile Mount Leinster Maiden Hurdle.

He was returning from a very long absence when a promising third behind Clonbanan Lad and Operating at Punchestown and this looks easier.
