Pageboy can call the tune
The four-year-old is wrong at the weights with three of his rivals and is meeting top rated Zalantoun on unfavourable terms to the tune of 10lbs.
Pageboy hasn’t run on the flat since July of last year, taking third behind Highly Efficient and Maggie Neary at Leopardstown.
He has, however, since developed into a useful hurdler and it is no great surprise Wachman has decided to try him on the level again before, presumably, resuming his career over jumps.
Pageboy began by finishing sixth at Gowran Park and then got off the mark in fine style when beating the potentially smart E Mac at Tipperary in April.
Afforded a good break, he reappeared at Cork last month and impressed when cruising to an eight and a half lengths success, giving every indication there was better to come.
Feature event is the Guinness Handicap and the nod here falls on Willie Mullins’ Fatcatinthehat.
He made an impressive seasonal debut at the Galway festival when beating subsequent winner, Three Kingdoms, by six lengths.
The South West Bins Novice Hurdle may be best left to Michael Hourigan’s Run With The Wind.
An easy winner of a conditions hurdle at Killarney in July, he has since cut little ice in the Galway Hurdle and a very competitive Killarney handicap, but this is a lot easier.
