Count on Limonade to shrug off top weight

Count Of Limonade is fancied to shrug off top weight in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Nursery at Killarney this afternoon.

Count on Limonade to shrug off top weight

The Duke Of Marmalade colt disappointed at the Curragh last time, when a remote third behind Grafelli and Hard Yards, but not too much should be read into the display.

The extended six furlongs was all too short and it may also be possible that travelling round a bend suits!

Previously, over seven furlongs at Roscommon, the selection popped away in front and made all to beat Kevin Prendergast’s heavily-backed odds on shot, Daymooma.

Now Count Of Limonade steps up to eight and a half furlongs and that looks ideal for this tough colt.

Dermot Weld’s twice-raced Tandem has to be the choice in the Seamus Weldon www.mowers.ie Race.

He made his debut at Naas and wasn’t knocked about when half a length second behind Loreto.

Tandem then went off at long odds-on at the Galway festival and strolled to an 11 lengths success, in a modest heat.

A lot more is required now, but he is fancied to prove too strong for Circle and Coin Of Courage.

Most interesting contest of the day is the John O’Connor Welding Race over two miles and a furlong for amateur riders.

The nod falls on Willie Mullins’ Drive Time, who went off favourite for the Galway Hurdle, but fell at the fourth.

There was clearly a lot of confidence behind him then and, prior to that, Drive Time scored in smooth style on the flat on this track.

Feature event is the wide-open KWD Handicap Hurdle and the vote here falls on Domination, who didn’t seem to get the run of the race when second to Aughnacurraveel on the flat at Wexford eight days ago.

The M L Lynch Civil Engineering Ltd Maiden Hurdle won’t take much winning and, perhaps, Truckin All Night, who took a moderate bumper at Cork last Sunday, might prove good enough.

At Dundalk tomorrow Jim Bolger’s Rigoletta gets the nap in the Security and Emergency Services Ireland Forum Maiden.

She was beaten a length and a half into second by Mont Blanc at Wexford last time, when a combination of a mile and three furlong plus and testing conditions just found her out.
