Signs point to Seventh
Carmody’s horses are in great form and the selection was his latest success story, at Sligo just five days ago.
Formerly trained in England by William Haggas, the son of Pivotal will be having a third outing for Carmody.
The three-year-old was an easy to back 10-1 chance at Sligo, but won doing handstands, by no less than 11 lengths.
Seventh Sign has a clear edge on the handicapper now. He runs here under a mandatory 5lbs penalty, but goes up by 16lbs in the future.
Joe Murphy’s Dhushan, another import, gets the vote in the Tim Kelly Electrical Maiden Hurdle.
He won a maiden on the flat at Chepstow for Michael Jarvis and subsequently strutted his stuff, without much success, in exotic locations such as Abu Dhabi, Meydan and Jebel Ali.
Dhushan has produced two reasonable efforts over flights of late, however, finishing fifth to Bearly Legal at Limerick and fourth behind Gold Ability at Galway.
The featured E.P.S Pumps Handicap Hurdle is a very tight-knit affair and not many of the eight possibilities can be discounted.
The nod falls on Dessie Hughes’ Chill, who was a useful enough sort last winter and will be all the better for a recent outing on the flat at Galway.
