Down in class Square can get off the mark
An Acclamation colt, trained by Aidan O’Brien, Parliament Square was very green on his debut over this course and distance in May, when a well-beaten fifth behind subsequent Coventry Stakes winner Dawn Approach.
The selection showed the benefit of that experience when stepped-up into listed company in Royal Ascot’s Windsor Castle Stakes.
Having shown good speed throughout, towards the stands side, the Ballydoyle colt finished a creditable fifth, beaten less than a length and a half, behind Hototo.
Back in maiden company tonight, Parliament Square sets a decent standard and, with Joseph O’Brien in the saddle, should prove tough to beat.
After two cancellations at Fairyhouse, the transferred Brownstown Stakes (Group 3) should finally be staged tonight.
Aidan O’Brien’s After will be expected to earn a valuable black type by proving too strong for her four rivals.
Having run creditably in both the French and Irish 1,000 Guineas, After filled the runner-up spot behind Fire Lily in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes (six furlongs) at Leopardstown last time. Stepping-up in trip, she makes plenty of appeal.
Sixth to Sinaniya on her debut at the Curragh, Ballydoyle filly Where might improve sufficiently to land the six-furlong, two-year-old fillies maiden.
