The Truth can set punters free

Dermot Weld’s Truthwillsetufree gets the nap in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden at Sligo tonight.

The Truth can set punters free

The daughter of Dalakhani started off at the Curragh last month, but pulled much too hard and made little show in finishing 11th behind the impressive Blue Corner.

She reappeared at Fairyhouse 13 days ago and was dropped out near the back by Leigh Roche.

Again she showed a tendency to want to do too much too early, but was far better than at the Curragh.

As a result Truthwillsetufree showed plenty of improvement, doing all of her best work at the end when three lengths runner-up behind the useful Dane Street.

Hopefully, she will come on again for the experience and, that being the case, can prove too strong for John Oxx’s Zalantoun, who was a close fourth behind stable companion, Vedani, on his first run of the season at the Curragh.

John Murphy’s Goldplated might be the answer to the tricky four-runner Ireland’s Own Race over ten furlongs.

Although ultimately outclassed, she ran well for a long way when seventh behind Sapphire in a Group 3 at Cork on Sunday.

Dropping down in class and two furlongs in trip will be a help and she does have four successes to her credit.

Ado McGuinness’ Bubbly Bellini gets the vote in the Audi Sligo Handicap. Despite weaving about a bit he won by three and three quarter lengths at Limerick on Saturday night and carries just a mandatory 5lbs penalty. He goes up 11bs in the future

The Fox Tully, who won cosily at Fairyhouse last week, may defy a 6lbs rise in the weights in the Sligo Champion Handicap.
