Light Heavy to take Curragh route

Light Heavy will go the Curragh route according to trainer Jim Bolger, following his emphatic success in the Group 3 P W McGrath Memorial Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown.

Light Heavy to take Curragh route

Opposed by three Ballydoyle colts, including penalised Group 2 winner David Livingston, the Teofilo colt, successful over a mile on this track last month, relished the step-up to ten furlongs and ran on strongly up the straight to slam Call To Battle, with Tower Rock faring best of Aidan O’Brien’s runners in third.

Light Heavy was having only his third career start and is open to plenty of improvement. His trainer enthused: “I think we’ll go Curragh route with him and he’ll come back here for the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial next month. He’s a very laid-back colt and only does what he has to do.”
