O’Brien scripts it just right on Hemingway

Ballydoyle debutant Ernest Hemingway proved the undoubted star of last night’s action in Dundalk, romping to an impressive ten lengths win in the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden to spark a double for Aidan and Joseph O’Brien.

Sent off 5/2 second favourite, the son of Galileo was soon in front and dictated the pace over a distance of almost a mile and three furlongs, forging clear in the final two furlongs to win in the style of an exciting middle-distance prospect.

Ernest Hemingway’s debut success came two days before a clutch of informative classic trials at Leopardstown tomorrow. Winning rider Joseph O’Brien commented: “He’s a nice colt. He knew his job, but should improve from this experience. My sister Ana rides him out at home and told me this morning that’s he’d win.”
