Wading a ‘lovely prospect’ for next season
Ridden by Joseph O’Brien, Wading, which held Group 1 entries in England this week, swept past Oh So Lucy before the furlong-pole before stretching clear impressively.
O’Brien declared: “She’s an uncomplicated filly. She travelled well and picked up easily. She will stay further next year and is a lovely prospect.”
Aidan O’Brien looked sure to complete a double as Amazing Beauty (ridden by Joseph) and favourite Regent Street (Seamus Heffernan) battled it out in the concluding contest, only to be caught late by the fast-finishing Takapour, ridden for Michael Halford by Johnny Murtagh.
A return to Dundalk, for a listed event, is planned for the Paul Deegan-trained Khaos, a Kodiac filly which showed plenty of speed throughout the six-furlong, two-year-old auction maiden under Willie Supple, before keeping favourite Multitasaking at bay by a neck
Plans for Hestian are uncertain following his last gasp victory in the opening nursery, Fozzy Stack explaining: “His run in York was a disaster. That was a smartish performance after missing the break. He’s a real sprinter and needs fast ground, so opportunities are limited this late in the season.”
Jeangeorges (Danny Grant) continued Pat Flynn’s fine form when defying top-weight in the first division of the Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap while the consistent Ashton Rose, well ridden from an outside draw by apprentice Ronan Whelan, gained her reward when landing the second division for Tracy Collins.
