Rising turns on the magic in final

DAMIAN and Noel Fleming, who bred English Derby winner Taylors Sky, earned the plaudits at Curraheen Park on Saturday night when that one’s half-brother, Rising Magic, took the featured O’Riordan Brothers’ Tarmacadam A1 final.

Rising turns on the magic in final

In a near replica of the semi-final, the son of Droopys Scholes and Rising Angel was shielded from trouble as Mumhan Aris raced for the rails in the early stages and he employed his own impressive early pace to turn in front. Favourite Paid Paddy raced in second place all the way but hard as he tried he was unable to reel in the leader, who ran on strongly to score by a length and a half in 28.58.

There was more success for the Derby-winning family when Burgess Star took the closing race for JJ Fennelly and Sheila Spillane. Also a half-brother to Taylors Sky — this time by Droopys Vieri — he ran the inside line to perfection to earn his 17th career success, with a 28.82 return.
