Maybe can stay unbeaten

MAYBE, one of the best juveniles seen so far this season, puts her reputation on the line in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown tonight.

Maybe can stay unbeaten

The daughter of Galileo made a spectacular debut at Naas in May, making all to beat subsequent winner, Princess Sinead, by four and a half lengths.

That race was run on a quick surface and then she went to Royal Ascot, on soft ground, for the Listed Chesham Stakes.

Maybe handled it with aplomb, powering away from the two furlong pole to cruise to an impressive two and a quarter lengths victory. It will be disappointing should she fail to come through this test in style.

Aidan O’Brien trains Maybe and is responsible for three of the five runners, all newcomers, in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden.

Camelot, a son of Montjeu and a 525,000 guineas yearling purchase, is reported to be particularly smart and gets the vote.

At Killarney this afternoon Jessica Harrington’s Greenbelt Flyer is the nap choice in the John O’Connell Memorial Novice Hurdle.

He has produced two less than satisfactory efforts on the flat of late, but is surely better judged on his success over flights at Punchestown, where he jumped and travelled well to slam House Rules by six lengths.

House Rules, an easy winner at Listowel in the meantime, re-opposes, but faces an uphill task with the selection on the same terms.

Harrington can complete a double with once-raced Maller Tree, two lengths second of 25 behind Noel Meade’s Texas Jack at the Punchestown festival, in the Bumper.

Willie Mullins’ Dorset Square gets the nod in the two miles and a furlong Europe Hotel And Resort Handicap.

He surged through late to win going away by two lengths at Ballinrobe and went up 12lbs for his audacity.

But Dorset Square was well weighted in that contest and, going up in trip, can make light of the extra.
