LADY Wingshot stands out as the banker bet on tonight’s six-race card in Naas.

Lady Wingshot should prove tough to beat

The once-raced, Jim Bolger trained filly shaped like a certain future winner when finishing a close third on her recent debut at the Curragh and, with normal improvement, should prove very tough to beat in the six-furlong Irish Stallion Farms 2-Y-0 Fillies Maiden.

Subject of favourable reports and sent off favourite for her debut, Lady Wingshot travelled sweetly close to the pace and looked the likely winner from the two furlong pole before being collared inside the final furlong by the Ballydoyle pair After and Taigan.

Beaten less than a length, this daughter of Lawman showed plenty of potential and holds Lady Rochford (finished seventh), although Ger Lyons’ filly didn’t enjoy the best of luck at the Curragh. It’s probably an indication of the regard in which Lady Wingshot is held that she was left in Friday’s Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket at last weekend’s forfeit stage.

The Bolger filly clearly sets a decent standard and Kevin Manning’s mount should open her account.

The Dermot Weld trained Anderiego might be capable of defying top-weight in the seven furlong jogforjockeys.ie Handicap.

Last time, when making his handicap debut, Anderiego ran better than his final placing (fifteenth) might suggest in the competitive Curragh handicap won by Six Of Hearts last week. Weld’s colt had no chance from a low draw on that occasion and, dropped 2lb. by the handicapper, is preferred to David Wachman’s Jimbalaya, raised 7lb. for a recent course and distance success here.
