Fallon: Native Khan saga resolved
Fallon was sensationally unable to ride in the Classic after he elected to instead take the mount on the Aidan O’Brien-trained Recital.
Native Khan’s owner Ibrahim Araci subsequently took Fallon to the high court for breaching a contract which allowed him to call upon the jockey when possible, as well as not riding in opposition to Native Khan in any race.
Despite the injunction initially failing on the Friday, Araci was allowed to launch an appeal with the injunction granted on the morning of the race.
Pat Smullen was drafted in to take the ride on Recital, finishing sixth, while Johnny Murtagh finished fifth on Native Khan.
Fallon, speaking on the BBC yesterday, said the situation has been resolved, saying: “Everything’s cool again and they [owners] said they’d love to have me [riding again].
“Johnny [Murtagh] is obviously on board in the Irish Derby but other than that I hope to be on him [Native Khan] again.
“I was supposed to ride him in the Derby but felt he wouldn’t act on the track or come down the hill and I thought the other horse [Recital] would, and what happened was one of those things.’’
