Oxx can have good day at the seaside
Dimona, a daughter of Alhaarth, should prove hard to beat in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden. She ran a bit better than her final placing might suggest at Leopardstown first time up when ninth of 12 behind stable companion, Mesariya.
The three-year-old then appeared to improve plenty subsequently when a length and a quarter second to Malayan Mist at Gowran Park. Malayan Mist won again at Ballinrobe on Monday night.
Alayir is certainly not the most reliable of betting propositions, but still looks good enough to win the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden.
He didn’t quite go through with his effort when going down by two lengths to Quaintly at Wexford, but this does look a weaker affair.
The nap vote falls on Dessie Hughes’ Action Master in the Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap. He hasn’t run on the level for 605 days and competes here off a paltry mark of 57, having shown little or nothing on the flat.
But Action Master has made a lot of improvement in the meantime over flights, producing his best effort to date when beating Won In The Dark at Punchestown last month.
At Listowel tomorrow the Charles Byrnes trained Run For Sol rates the nap in the Bryan McMahon Race over a mile and six.
Successful over flights at Sligo, she was then seen in an even more favourable light at Killarney when beaten a length by the 98-rated Sense Of Purpose.
The John B Keane Maiden Hurdle is best left to Henry de Bromhead’s House Rules, who is far from a star, but good enough to win a modest heat such as this!
He was a strong favourite at Punchestown last time, but proved no match for Greenbelt Star, slammed to the tune of six lengths. This has the appearances an easier assignment.
Philip Rothwell’s Menwaal is the choice in the St John’s Literary Centre Handicap Hurdle. He came back to form at Cork when half a length second to Uncle Taffy.
The selection was raised 6lbs for that, but the plus side is Uncle Taffy went on to win easily at Ballinrobe.
