Nolan ponders Prince options

PAUL NOLAN has yet to decide on the next plan of attack for his Cheltenham Festival hero Noble Prince.

The son of Montjeu careered up the famous hill to land the inaugural running of the Jewson Novices’ Chase in the hands of Tony McCoy, much to the delight of his trainer.

The seven-year-old will now compete at either Fairyhouse’s Irish Grand National fixture or the Punchestown Festival and connections have still to decide which way to go.

“He came home very well and touch wood, he’s in great shape,” said Co Wexford-based Nolan.

“We could stick to two and a half (miles) in the Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse, or we could go for the two-mile novice or the three-mile novice at Punchestown.

“He’s a versatile sort of horse but looking at Cheltenham, two and a half miles seemed ideal. It would be nice to think he could be back there next year for the Ryanair. Whether he’ll fully stay three miles over fences remains to be seen, but I think he would on decent ground.”
