D’Haguenet can steal the show

EXCITING Mikael D’Haguenet might overshadow the other Grade 1 stars on show at Fairyhouse tomorrow by making a successful start over Irish fences in the Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase.

Unbeaten in six starts since joining Willie Mullins, the six-year-old missed all of last season due to injury and has not raced since landing his third Grade 1 prize at the Punchestown Festival in May of last year.

That victory over stable-companion Cousin Vinny in the Land Rover Champion Novice Hurdle was the climax of a campaign which also included two Grade 2 wins and Grade 1 successes in the Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle (when he inflicted the only defeat of his career on Pandorama) and an impressive win over Karabak in the Ballymore Properties Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham,
