Pittoni set to send punters home happy

PITTONI is well capable of sending punters home from Listowel today on the perfect note by landing the concluding Slan Abhaile Race.

Pittoni set to send punters home happy

The last time the son of Peintre Celbere was seen on the flat he was in the care of John Oxx and won a maiden by five and a half lengths at the Curragh in October.

He then went jumping for Charles Byrnes, winning three times, and looking as if having a decent future at that game.

Of course his fitness now has to be taken on trust, but you’d imagine he will be reasonably straight for what is not the most demanding of tasks.

Byrnes could also supply the solution to the Edmond Whelan Memorial Handicap Hurdle with Campbonnais, who hinted he might be ready to strike again when fourth to Alpine Glade at Killarney.

David Marnane has his team in cracking form and Pinkk may prove another for him in the Lynchs’ Bakery Fillies Maiden.

She seemed to show improved form last time when a length second to Siul Alainn at the Curragh and a repeat of that effort will more than entitle her to go close in this company.

Ken Condon’s Little Arrows gets the nod in the seven furlongs Killocrim Handicap, having finished with a flourish here on Wednesday when third behind Maundy Money and Picture Perfect.

The M J Carroll ARRO Maiden Hurdle is a modest affair and, perhaps, Willie Mullins’ useful flat handicapper, Laughing Boy, will oblige.

Likewise, the Guinness Surge Beginners Chase won’t take a lot of winning and the nod here falls on Questions Answered - who was a decent hurdler - especially should the market speak in his favour.

Best bet at Fairyhouse tomorrow is the in-form Sean Og Coulston in the Oldcasstle Rated Race.

He ran really well over nine furlongs at Leopardstown - half a length second to Priomhbhean - and then showed his versatility earlier in the week at Listowel when defying top weight in a six and a half furlongs handicap.

Eddie Lynam’s Opa Loca, a promising fourth behind Honey Of A Kitten at Cork, is the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden.
