Scandal Sheet worth a shot in tricky affair

THE feature at Gowran Park tonight is the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Hurry Harriet Stakes and this is certainly as open a Listed race as you could wish to see.

There is so little between so many of the runners that it is a contest which has to be approached with extreme caution.

The hopeful vote goes to Jim Bolger’s Scandal Sheet, who has been performing well in handicaps and looks worth a shot at a Graded event.

She ran a cracker in a very competitive handicap at Galway, finishing a length and three parts runner-up behind Rajik.

That was run at a swinging gallop from start to finish and the selection never flinched in the straight.

Aidan O’Brien’s nicely drawn Treasure Beach should prove hard to beat in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden for juveniles.

He more than caught the eye when doing his best work at the finish behind Longhunter at Leopardstown in May and this is much more about quantity, rather than quality.

Colm Murphy’s Aladdins Cave can continue on an upward curve in the McEnery Cup Handicap over a mile and a half.

He went up 23lbs for a hat-trick of successes, but ran his best race to date off this mark when sixth to Rajik and Scandal Sheet at Galway.

Councilofconstance is the nap choice in the concluding Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden.

The daughter of Footstepsinthesand could never get a good position when third to Blaze Brightly and Lake Worth at Listowel, but the way she saw out the mile on that occasion augurs well for her over this evening’s trip.

John Murphy’s Praise Be, fifth to Dermot Weld’s highly-regarded Zaminast at Galway, could have the best of the weights in the Rooftop Restaurant At Gowran Park Nursery.
