Tilabay looks up to the task
The selection’s main claim to fame over flights is finishing fourth in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown last Christmas, when in the care of Adrian Sexton.
This will be his first pop over jumps for Willie Mullins, but Tilabay has already produced two solid efforts on the flat for the Carlow-based maestro.
He finished second last time at Laytown, over an inadequate seven furlongs, after making a winning start for Mullins at Wexford.
Running over just less than 12 furlongs, Tilabay cruised to victory from the three-year-old, and subsequent winner, Blue Ridge Lane.
He is obviously a horse of some potential and it isn’t unreasonable to assume he could improve significantly for his new handler!
Liz Doyle’s Penny’s Bill gets the nod in the John F McGuire Beginners Chase, having made a good start over fences at Ballinrobe.
The seven-year-old was doing his best work at the end when runner-up behind Let Yourself Go, beaten three parts of a length. Let Yourself Go won again next time at Galway.
Henry de Bromhead’s Another Wexican, successful in a Tramore bumper, might be worth risking in the Bank Of Ireland Maiden Hurdle. Pulled up at Galway last time, Another Wexican had previously indicated a little contest such as this was within his compass when second to Meritorious at Killarney.
