Leger date likely for Closely

MONITOR Closely looks likely to be supplemented for the Ladbrokes St Leger after pleasing his connections in a Newmarket spin yesterday morning.

The three-year-old earned a crack at the season’s final Classic at Doncaster after a hugely impressive all-the-way win in York’s Great Voltigeur Stakes.

Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam is keeping his fingers crossed the rain stays away from Town Moor ahead of the September 12 contest, but it does appear connections are willing to stump up the £45,000 (€51,239) required to add him to the field.
