Longer trip to suit Cailin Alainn
Charles Byrnes’ mare has been lightly raced of late, but showed enough at Cork in December to entitle her to go close now, in what is a tricky contest.
Admittedly, she was beaten 16 lengths into second by Scotsirish then, but that was only her second outing of the campaign and the two miles trip was totally inadequate.
This two and a half is going to be far more suitable and Cailin Alainn re-opposes on 13lbs better terms.
Scotsirish has to be respected, along with One Cool Cookie and Glenfinn Captain, but the selection does have plenty going for her at the weights.
Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh team up with Scotsirish and, whatever the fate of that horse, they can combine to land the nap with the progressive Borrowaddy.
The former successful pointer has since taken a bumper at Dundalk and a two-mile maiden hurdle at Wexford.
Neither contest took a whole lot of winning, but the six-year-old is likely to be well suited to stepping up to two miles and six.
If Eric McNamara’s Faltering Fullback puts his best foot forward then he will make short work of the opposition in the Moycarkey Hurdle.
