Otay the best option
He hasn’t been seen since finishing third at Thurles way back in January, but fitness is rarely an issue with horses from this yard.
His Thurles performance bears the closest inspection. Otay Kawn finished half a length and a length behind two smart horses, Oscar Time and Weapon’s Amnesty, and with the fourth a further 12 lengths away the form appears particularly smart, in the context of this contest.
Mullins also has possibilities with the improving Clear Gold, who is seeking a hat-trick of successes in the Central Handicap Chase.
He has gone up 18lbs for winning on this track and at Killarney last week, but since starting off a low base anyway could still be ahead of the game.
The four-year-old Belle’s Ridge is fancied to beat the year younger Art Sleuth in the Blue Thunder Fast Foods Median Auction Maiden. Tim Doyle’s colt ran a solid race in a competitive handicap at the Curragh last time, beaten less than a length into third spot behind Cat By The Tale.
Leslie Young’s Damasque should go close in the Paddy Smyth Memorial Handicap, having gone under by a head to Send Me Home at Dundalk.
