Salford reverts to hurdling

SALFORD City reverts to the smaller obstacles when he tackles the Grade Three Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle over two miles at Tipperary tomorrow.

Salford reverts to hurdling

Gordon Elliott’s charge won his first two starts over fences with considerable ease and turned in a good effort in defeat to Kerryhead Windfarm when upped to two and a half miles last time out.

“It’s a good opportunity for him,” said Elliott.

“There aren’t too many opportunities around for him at the moment and this is a good prize so we’re going for it.”

Elliott also revealed Roman Villa is very much on track for a trip to the Galway Festival.

The six-year-old ran encouragingly on the Flat at Bellewstown two weeks ago when staying on well in a one-mile-five-furlong contest.

He added: “Roman Villa has been working really well at home and is definitely on course for the Galway Hurdle.”
