Approach denied double bid

JIM BOLGER’S New Approach had to miss yesterday’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh, after failing to respond to treatment, writes Pat Keane.

The son of Galileo had been certain to go off a warm favourite, following his defeat of Tartan Bearer at Epsom.

On Friday evening, however, he was found to have a problem with one of his feet and Bolger had to admit defeat yesterday morning, pulling the colt out of the race.
