Pride can pounce
A useful hurdler, the eight-year-old has taken well to fences, even if she did fail to get round at Listowel last time.
Stephen Ryan’s mare was bowling along merrily in front when unseating Robert Power four from home, contest eventually won by Callow Lake.
Previously, she won a moderate event with any amount in hand at Tralee, particularly impressing with her jumping.
One could argue the two miles and a furlong now is a trifle on the short side for the selection, but we can surely trust Barry Geraghty to make plenty of use of her.
Charles Byrnes’ Third Level Tom, running off a paltry mark of 88, should prove hard to beat in the Tipp Town and District Professionals Handicap Hurdle.
His form over flights is, of course, very modest but he has shown significant improvement of late as a chaser, scoring in smooth style on two occasions at Cork.
Third Level Tom is currently rated 113 over fences, a whopping 25lbs above his mark as a hurdler.
At Fairyhouse this evening, all-conquering Aidan O’Brien can provide the solution to the lowly Macetown Maiden with Giant Among Men.
The Giant’s Causeway colt, third behind Royal Astronomer at Leopardstown, is clearly in the lower divisions at Ballydoyle, but should be good enough to squeeze through this less than demanding test.
