“That has completed my rehabilitation,” commented a smiling Eva who spent a considerable amount of time in hospital after the accident.
The winner was the even money overnight favourite but, after having a close call against Caoimhes Susie in the semi-final - coming late to get up - she was the outsider in the decider against Mrs Ann Condon’s (Conna) Why Tanyard Lily. However Ballybrack View again came from behind to win by a length.
The featured Geary’s Bar All-Aged Stake was won by Trumpers Matty, the property of Shane Roynane from Mallow, Co. Cork. The winner, who had been beaten in the final of a Trial Stake at Cork last season by Derby runner-up Loch Bo Butch, put out the favourite Shaneboy Vinny in the quarter-final and in the final proved a length faster than Ballybrack Fred, to deny Mrs Lewis a double.
The Derby Trial Stake final was an exciting affair with Glenquin View, jointly owned by Ger Lacey and Simon Brosnan from Mountcollins, Co. Limerick and trained by John Linehan, holding on to beat Mossie Collins’ (Abbeyfeale) Four Chances by three parts of a length.
The All-Aged Bitch Stake went to Cooga Clause, the property of Shane McLoughlin from Doon, Co. Limerick who proved much too good for The Harty Boy Syndicate’s (Mitchestown) How Ya Princess, trained by Pat Norris, winning by seven lengths.
