Injured Spencer may miss Red Evie ride
Spencer has built up a fine relationship with Michael Bell’s brilliant filly and was on board when she landed the Group One race last year.
However, if he travels over to Leopardstown today, Spencer will have to be passed fit from a medical examination.
“He has hurt his back but isn’t exactly sure what he has done,” explained his agent Andrew Sheret.
“There has to be uncertainty over whether he will ride. We will see how he is in the morning and obviously whatever happens he will have to pass the doctor.”
Red Evie has has gone on to land the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes and the Hungerford Stakes this summer, while Bell has identified Arch Swing as the main stumbling block.
She has enjoyed a three-week break since the latter and while acknowledging his four-year-old brings the best form to the table, he is wary of the home defence.
He said: “She has done everything that has been required of her since winning the Hungerford and I am looking forward to tomorrow.
“She went across to Ireland yesterday and cantered on the track this morning - as she did last year.
“Things didn’t pan out for in the Queen Anne and she has run three times at Newmarket now and failed to fire, but she has a great big-race record and I hope she can enhance it.
“She is the only Group One winner in the field but Arch Swing has gone close before and on paper she is the biggest threat to us.
“Echelon is back to form and she, along with several others, are entitled to run well but Arch Swing looks the main danger.”
