Down in class Dawla can dothe business

DAWLA is the nap choice to take the six-runner O’Gara Royal Hotel Race at Roscommon this evening.

Kevin Prendergast’s three-year-old is down in class and should find this easier, compared to taking on Listed company at the Curragh last time.

The well-regarded daughter of Alhaarth wasn’t disgraced then in finishing about four lengths seventh behind Alexander Tango.

Before that she won a moderate maiden at Listowel and was beaten by two useful sorts in Perfect Casting at Navan and Sorolla at Naas.

They are a motley bunch in the ten furlongs Ulster Bank Maiden and it isn’t difficult to find fault with them all, at least those who have already run.

The nod falls on Dermot Weld’s Perpetuum. He’s not to be trusted, but at leas produced a career-best effort last time when third to Blackwater Pete and Belle Of The Lodge at Ballinrobe.

Paco Jack, who performed solidly when third to Sadler’s Kingdom and Alpine Eagle on the flat at Galway, is likely to have been well schooled and can make a winning debut over jumps in the second division of the Railway Bar three-year-old Maiden Hurdle.

Alf Tupper, two lengths runner-up to Misima Sunrise, at Killarney, is fancied to go one better in the opening section of the Boyle Handicap.
