Eile heads to Tipp

JOHN QUEALLY is hoping Al Eile is over his hard race in the Northumberland Plate when he reverts to hurdles at Tipperary tomorrow.

Eile heads to Tipp

The dual Aintree Hurdle winner was fourth to Juniper Girl in a stamina-sapping renewal of the ’Pitmen’s Derby’ at the Newcastle track three weeks ago.

He appears to have recovered from those exertions and has been given the go-ahead to run in the Kevin McManus Bookmakers Grimes Hurdle.

“He had a hard enough race in the Northumberland Plate so hopefully he’s over it, but you don’t really know until you run them,” said Queally.

“I’m a bit cautious, more hopeful than confident. Even though he seems well enough at home you don’t really know until you go to the track with them.

“He hasn’t given us any reason not to run him, but I wouldn’t like it really heavy for him. Summer soft ground would be OK.”

Meanwhile connections of Shivering are concerned about the testing conditions ahead of the Danehill Dancer Tipperary Stakes tonight.

The filly’s sole success so far came over the course and distance and she is all set to return to her local track, weather permitting.

“The ground is going to be very heavy there, but she’ll take her chance if racing goes ahead,” said trainer Tommy Stack’s son and assistant, Fozzy.

“We’ve had an awful lot of rain today and we’re only 10 miles from the track.”
