Thoughtless Moment poised to get off mark
This is a contest in which a solid case can only be made for the selection and Akua’Ba and that’s always comforting when considering a wager. Thoughless Moment was well fancied to make a winning debut at Gowran Park at the beginning of May, but was beaten a neck into second by Magic Carpet.
It’s difficult to get a handle on the form, because Magic Carpet hasn’t been seen in the meantime, but the fact the third was a further 11 lengths away was encouraging. As well the daughter of Pivotal is likely to handle any ease in the surface.
Akua’Ba has the stronger form, but always finds a way to get beaten and has filled the runner-up berth on no less than four occasions.
She looked all over a winner at the Curragh last time, but was run out of it close home by seasonal debutant, Muluk.
Jim Bolger trains Akua’Ba and might enjoy better luck with the progressive Many Colours in the Foxrock Handicap.
She too was proving frustrating, until slamming hot-pot Katirisa by two and a half lengths in a maiden at Tipperary and hasn’t gone up the weights for that.
Willie Mullins’ Impudent has a leading chance in the mile and six Sandyford Maiden for qualified riders. Rather surprisingly beaten over flights at Listowel by Killeeen Castle, she previously showed useful enough form on the level at Wexford. Impudent was beaten into second spot by Lucky Heroine and had subsequent Tramore winner, Taralaya, behind.
