Treasure can bury rivals over longer trip
Dermot Weld's colt showed only a little on his debut at Galway, but stepped well up on that effort at Gowran Park next time.
The son of Theatrical beat Aidan O'Brien's newcomer Mount Nelson a length with odds-on favourite, Mamlook, a further four and a half lengths away in third. Treasure Map impressed with the manner in which he stuck to his task in the closing stages. He tackles another two furlongs in trip now, which should certainly suit, and the fact the ground was very testing at Gowran augurs well for his prospects.
Aidan O'Brien doesn't run too many on this track, but has a couple today and one of them, Meteor Shower, can take the Best Western Premier Claremorris Maiden.
That he is moderate is hardly in dispute, but the son of Danehill did perform with promise at Cork last Saturday.
Making a belated seasonal debut, Metoer Shower stayed on quite nicely at the end of an extended mile to fill third spot behind Tarkani and Holbein. He should relish this 12 furlongs.
Michael Grassick, who hasn't had the best of campaigns, could enjoy a double. His Phoneix Factor, raised 3lbs for getting beaten a short head by Rockie at Listowel, gets the nod in the J G's Restaurant Claremorris Handicap.
Grassick's Pine Valley, running off a mark just 5lbs higher for landing two soft ground contests at Killarney and Limerick back in May, can supply the solution to the Karma's Health and Beauty Claremorris Handicap.
