Laywaan can finally come good

THE rather frustrating Laywaan should find the opposition to her liking in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Maiden at Galway this afternoon.

The daughter of Fantastic Light has been knocking on the door in all four runs so far, but this appears to be her best chance to date, particularly as she has been favoured by one of the better draws in 16.

The selection's latest effort saw her finish two and a half lengths fourth behind Crossing at Gowran Park last month.

That's a contest which has been working out nicely. Crossing went on to take a Curragh handicap, second placed Dolce Dovo performed well at Clonmel last week while the third, Sunspangled, landed a handicap at Cork on Sunday.

Aidan O'Brien's once-raced Chinese Whisper, another coming out of stall 16, looks the right one in the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Maiden.

The son of Montjeu made a good start when fourth behind Warriors Key at the Curragh and can cope with the Tralee runner-up Shabahar and Dermot Weld's Theatricl newcomer, Treasure Map.

If the handicapper is right then Kevin Prendergast's Tamazug should make short work of her rivals in the Donnellys' Of Barna Race.

She has a minimum of 6lbs in hand of these, a lot more in most cases, and is down in class having finished fifth to Blessyourpinksox in a Listed event at the Curragh last time.

Glaczer Flyer, who showed his liking for this track when scoring by four lengths at the Festival in July, gets the nod in the Bumper.
