MICHAEL STOUTE rarely misjudges a horse and his one-time Classic hope Wasseema returned to her best when making all in the Listed Independent Newspaper EBF Valiant Stakes at Ascot yesterday.

The Danzig filly was considered a 1000 Guineas contender early in the spring but she disappointed in the Nell Gwyn and failed to make the line-up for the Classic.

But given a break by the astute Stoute, she bounced back with a maiden win at Goodwood last month and despite playing up at the stalls at Royal Ascot, she never put a foot wrong when lifting this mile race.
