BACKING a horse who was third on her only appearance to date in a Group Three race against established performers would usually lead to the road to ruin.

Wasseema, an 18-1 chance with the sponsors for the Stan James 1000 Guineas, puts her Classic credentials on the line in tomorrow’s Shadwell Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket.

Last year’s champion juvenile filly Rumplestiltskin tops an increased entry of 85 fillies in the Stan James 1000 Guineas run at Newmarket on May 7.
