Bolger hoping for same Difference
Enda Bolger’s veteran has become a real specialist over the obstacle course, winning all three of the track’s races last season, including the inaugural event at the Festival.
His trainer, who has also carved out a niche for himself in the sphere, is double-handed having also declared young pretender and La Touche Cup winner Good Step.
“I’m hoping for a good run from both of them, although obviously we would love it if ‘Spot’ could win it again,” said Bolger.
“They both had a run over hurdles two weeks ago to stretch their legs and I was very pleased with them both.
“It is the younger horse’s first time around the course so we will have to see how he goes. He will benefit from the experience.
“He won around Punchestown, which has more banks, whereas there are more green hedges to jump at Cheltenham.
“It is a wee bit different at Cheltenham, but not that much.”
Il De Boitron, Native Ray and Oh My Lord complete a five-strong Irish raiding party for the race, while Ferdy Murphy has two of the 14 runners in the shape of Luzcadou and Historg.
Other leading players could be useful handicappers Lord Jack and L’Aventure.
