Michael O'Donovan trains Allformegrog for Terry Corden and the Irish hope hardened to odds-on after a handy hunt with Dutch Auction. Unfortunately, he incurred a wrist injury in his semi-final with Cuban Guest so he was not risked in the final.

This resulted in the Liz Hall trained Chubbys Bear being declared winner.

Chubbys Bear also ran up for the Sefton Trophy at Altcar last month and was a Derby trial stake winner at Fermoy last year for the O'Meara family from Nenagh.

First round: Allformegrog bt Dutch Auction; Cuban Guest bt Safe Return; Arbroath Saviour beat Damn the Ban; Chubbys Bear bt Paddys Toy.

Semi finals: Allformegrog bt Cuban Guest; Chubbys Bear a bye, Arbroath Saviour drawn gruelled.

Final: Messrs. H Hiddington and J Lloyd's (Yorkshire) f d Chubbys Bear (Kilucan House-Ardnalee Laura) declared winner. T Corden's (Tipperary) f d Allformegrog (Kilucan House-Mountain Rose) drawn inj.
