Honorine looks up to defying top weight
John Oxx’s Miss Honorine, already a winner twice on the track as a three-year-old, gets the vote to defy top weight, the steadier of 10-0.
She put up a career-best performance, in another listed event, over this trip at the Curragh in October, when proving half a length too good for the useful Sights On Gold.
The selection made a less than dramatic reappearance at the Curragh last month, finishing a well beaten third behind Richard Hannon’s Nysaean.
It is well to remember, however, the huge improvement she made last season, following her first outing.
Miss Honorine made little show at Tipperary, prior to recording an emphatic three and a half lengths success in a maiden here.
John Murphy’s Get Smart gets the nap to land the Carbon Group Handicap Chase, off bottom weight.
At Killarney on Tuesday, he certainly stepped up on previous efforts when contesting his first handicap.
Get Smart went off a 16-1 shot, but belied those oddds with an eight lengths defeat of Aura About Him.
It is hardly a surprise Get Smart is asked to turn out again so quickly, under a mandatory 6lbs penalty.
The EBF Median Auction race won’t take much winning, with preference for the once-raced Miss Serendipity, who hinted at ability when fifth to Almost Dancing at Naas eleven days ago.
Should the market speak in his favour, then Christy Roche’s Mind The Square is the one to be on in the 30-runner Bumper.
The Topanoora gelding hasn’t been seen since the Galway Festival of last year, when beaten a length by a very smart horse in Willie Mullins’ Royal Alphabet.
