Slaney Fox can give hurdle rivals the slip

SIX virtually impossible to solve handicaps make this afternoon’s eight-race programme at Killarney a far from appetising prospect.

The nap falls on Jessica Harrington’s Slaney Fox in the EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle.

She ran with some promise, following a long break, at the Galway Festival and then made no mistake at Tralee last time.

The daughter of Foxhound quickened up in fine style in the closing stages of a Bumper to beat Saintly Rachel a comfortable three and a half lengths. The selection seems to handle fast ground really well and a decent round of jumping should see her go close.

Royal Destiny and Molly-O are the two to concentrate on in the Niall Brosnan and Co Solicitors’ Novice Hurdle.

The pair clashed at Tralee earlier this month when Royal Destiny finished third, behind Macs Valley and Anno Jubilo, a length and a place in front of Molly-O.

The latter, who was making her debut over jumps and, claims included, is one pound better in, has every chance of reversing the placings. Nevertheless, preference is for Royal Destiny.

Springfield Guest might provide the answer to the first division of the Boylesports’ Handicap Hurdle. He certainly ran well at Clonmel when beaten a length into second spot by Mr Wong. The form was boosted when Mr Wong went on to score on the flat at Tipperary.

Street Player, a failed gamble on a soft surface when third to Fluttery Dancer at Roscommon, gets the nod to show his appreciation of faster ground in the Killarney Vintners’ Handicap.
