Wood tests Classic claims
The Irish River filly ran green and became unbalanced after a slow start, but stayed on well in the closing stages to secure second, promising plenty for the future.
This represents a fair jump in class for St Francis Wood, but trainer Jeremy Noseda needs to get a handle on her worth.
“She’s taking on some good fillies, but we need to run to find out whether she is good enough to go for the 1000 Guineas,” he said.
“She is a little bit inexperienced having only run once last year and I think she will come on for the run, but I am hoping that she is nice enough to give a good show.”
David Loder will be on a fact-finding mission with Bay Tree, who raced under the guidance of Barry Hills last season, winning two of her four starts.
The daughter of Daylami was not disgraced when beaten in the Prix Marcel Boussac, but was below-par in the Rockfel when finishing seventh of the 10 runners on her final outing.
“She’s a nice filly, but she is having her first run for me tomorrow and hopefully we will know a lot more about her once we have seen her run,” the in-form handler said.
