Fallon increases lead to 16

KIEREN FALLON increased his lead at the top of the Flat jockeys’ championship to 16 yesterday with a sparkling hat-trick at Lingfield Park.

The champion got off to the best possible start aboard Michael Stoute’s juvenile Linngari, in the opening Hays Montrose Novice Stakes.

Fallon completed his double as Distant Connection cosily landed the lingfield-racecourse.co.uk Handicap.

The third leg of the jockey’s 64-1 treble came from the well-backed 9-4 joint-favourite Perelandria in the Castlemaine XXXX Selling Stakes.

Other title contenders Frankie Dettori and Darryll Holland drew blanks from their rides at the Surrey track, while Fallon’s closest rival Seb Sanders was beginning a three-day ban .

Meanwhile, Paul Webber’s stalwart Ulundi has run his last race following defeat on his chasing bow at Bangor.

The nine-year-old will be forever remembered for his agonising defeat in the 2002 Arlington Million but has been plagued with problems since and could only manage third behind the impressive East Tycoon in the Harkstead Properties Beginners’ Chase.
