Leopardstown meeting is in doubt
The track was waterlogged yesterday, forcing the decision to cancel, and a 7.00am inspection this morning will determine whether racing can go ahead.
"It all depends on what happens overnight, if we have a dry night we have a chance," reported O'Dwyer.
Contingency plans are in place, in the event of another postponement. Should the weather again intervene then today's card will be transferred to Monday.
Feature event is the 150,000 Grade One Ericsson Chase, which will see French invader First Gold, trained by Francois Doumen for JP McManus, throwing down the gauntlet to the home team, headed by Ted Walsh's Rince Ri, successful in the race two years' ago.
First Gold was the winner of the King George VI Chase in 2000 but is without a win since his success in the Martell Cup in April last year.
He will face tough opposition though and must give 5lbs to rising Irish star Beef Or Salmon from the Michael Hourigan stable.
A rejuvenated Sackville will look to build on his success in the Tommy Whittle Chase at Haydock, while Rince Ri will attempt to go one better than second in the John Durkan Chase last time out.
Foxchapel King, Colonel Braxton and Harbour Pilot, third to Be My Royal in the Hennessy at Newbury,.
The highlight, however, is likely to be the clash of the heavyweights, Limestone Lad and Bannow Bay in the Woodiesdiy. com Christmas Hurdle. Limestone Lad has been better than ever this season and the people's champion is on a five-timer.
But he faces a strong opponent in Bannow Bay, runner-up to Baracouda at Cheltenham in March, and conqueror of Limestone Lad in this contest a year ago.
Tomorrow's original Leopardstown card has been abandoned, but the Grade One Evening Herald December Festival Hurdle has been saved.
This will feature the return of Cheltenham Festival winner Like-A-Butterfly and will start proceedings at 12.00.
