Race The Ace set for quick follow-up

RACE THE ACE can follow up a recent easy win at Goodwood with victory in the Roseland Group Autumn Handicap at Nottingham today.

The three-year-old is bred to make his mark over staying distances and, after a couple of pleasing efforts over shorter earlier in the season, relished the step up to two miles at Sandown in August.

Although the son of First Trump could only finish third on that occasion, he was not disgraced as he took a keen hold from the off and his stable was not enjoying the best of times.

However, with John Dunlop firing on all cylinders again, Race The Ace scored by some four lengths over the same distance later in the month and has only been raised 7lb for that win.

The gelding is a half-brother to the Group One-winning stayer Give Notice, so has the class to make his mark in this division.

Admiral Compton, second may have occupied the runner-up berth on his last two outings, but can go one better in the Letheby & Christopher Maiden Stakes.

Ed Vaughan’s charge finished second on his seasonal bow in at Goodwood in June and went on to chase home Three Secrets at Warwick the following month.

The winner has since been placed at Listed level and Admiral Compton pulled well clear of the next home, Majors Cast, who has also gone on to better things having posted two wins since.

Admiral Compton’s last defeat came over seven furlongs and today’s return to a mile should see him home in front.

Jazzy Millennium is another to have gone close on his last couple of outings and he looks the answer to the Racing UK On Channel 432 Classified Stakes.

Rod Millman’s charge has only been beaten a whisker on his last two outings having scored over today’s distance in August.
