Doctor Linton can notch third victory

MICHAEL O’Brien signalled that his horses are back on song with a double at Fairyhouse on Sunday and the trainer’s Doctor Linton gets the nap to take the Phil Sweeney Memorial ’Chase at Thurles today.

The seven-year-old is already a winner twice this season, at Limerick and Punchestown, and has his sights considerably lowered now, having contested a Grade One at Leopardstown at Christmas.

He appeared to have plenty in the locker when falling two from home as he tried to close on the principals in the contest won by Missed That from Wild Passion.

Edward O’Grady’s once-raced Patsy Bee is the choice in the INH Stallion Owners’ EBF Novice Hurdle.

He produced a fine performance at Limerick when staying on strongly at the end of two miles and three to beat Drunken Disorderly by a length and a half.

Bog Oak and Highlen, both winners last time, are entitled to respect, but the selection could be a decent sort in the making and can only improve!

John Murphy’s Night Bridge has to be fancied to land the Heineken W T O’Grady Memorial Hurdle.

He was holding every chance when blundering badly at the final flight at Limerick, parting company with Andrew McNamara, when upsides the eventual winner Cogans Lake (rec. 3lbs).

Ponmeoath, proving costly to follow and with a bout of seconditis to overcome, has a leading chance in the Cashel Maiden Hurdle.

He did perform solidly at Limerick on his latest appearance, grabbed late by Dr Willie Martin, and is well worth risking again.

Conem, runner-up to the more than useful Mattock Ranger on this track before Christmas, is the one to beat in the Bumper.
